Edwidge Danticat (pronounciation Ed-WEEDJ Dan-tih-CAH) (b. Port-au-Prince, Haiti, January 19, 1969) is a Haitian-American author.

Early life
Whilst she was both years old, her father André immigrated to Up to date York from either Haiti, to exist as followed ii years late by her mother Rose. Education and writing career
When graduating highschool, Edwidge entered Barnard College in New York City. At first she got arranged around researching nursing, but her love of writing won out & she received the BA in French literature. Late she earned an MFA around Creative Writing from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. Her thesis at 'last was her novel Breath, Eyes, Memory, which was published by Soho Press inside 1994. This would later on be an Oprah's Book Club selection in 1998.

Since completing her Masters Degree, she has taught originative writing at New York University, and a University of Miami. She has besides worked by using filmmakers Patricia Benoit & Jonathan Demme in projects in Haitian art & documentary film all about Haiti.
